Our most important Committee responsibility is to raise MONEY! Without it, we cannot afford to offer all the wonderful things which support parents and enrich the lives of our children, so we need efforts from as many people as possible to raise funds.
Broadly, DSO has an annual requirement of around £15,000 to continue offering all our services.
- £6,000 Speech and Language provision (Early Development Groups) including childcare for siblings
- £1,000 for each of the main clubs - PreSchool, Primary, 10+ and 18+.
- £2,000 Social events (summer, Christmas parties, etc) and fundraising events.
- £1,000 Polly Alton Educational Development Resources
- £1,500 Information workshops for parents/carers
- £500 Admin costs
Funds allowing, DSO is also keen to run a conference every other year, the cost of which varies depending on whether we can obtain grants, but without any funding is around £4,000.
All donations or fundraising efforts, however small, are gratefully received and can quickly add up to a significant amount. However, they tend to be time and labour intensive. Ideally we would look to secure charitable donations from organisations or trusts that have funds set aside specifically to help charities; if you know of any organisation that could help in this way please contact any of the committee
In the meantime, there are lots of ideas for fun, sociable and money-making events but we need to turn ideas into actions. If you are willing to help, in any way, please contact any of the committee or just go ahead and do it anyway!
You can make a regular donation (however small) to Down's Syndrome Oxford, by either setting up a monthly standing order with your bank, or direct by JustGiving. Follow the links above - it's that easy!
